Default componenent problem?

I recently built a new desktop from some used and new parts:
ECS Elitegroup KV1 Deluxe mobo
Rosewill 500w psu
VisonTek Radeon 2400 HD gpu
AMD Athlon 64 3300+ cpu
Corsair 2x1gig pc3200 ram
and 2 Quantum Fireball hdd's

When I first got the comp. to boot, it asked me to re-register Windows XP Home Edition. I clicked on the enter product key icon, and then suddenly about 10 seconds after it loaded the other screen my monitor went blank.

I've had the graphics card and hd's in my old computer so I know they work. The mobo powers up and lights up still. But everytime I tun it on, I get a blank screen. Any ideas??

P.S. when I put the HDD's back into this pc, I got a Windows error message claiming that the system had recovered from a "serious problem" and that I should send in an error report

There are a lot of things it could be. However, based upon the timing and what you were doing, I think Windows recognized that it wasn't in Kansas anymore and biffed your configuration.

I'd go in and delete the graphics card and reinstall the card from the ground up with the latest drivers and so on. I think Windows jsut wants to start over and so you need to reinitial the second monitor feature.

Let us know what happens.

Well I deleted the gpu software, swapped the hard drives back into the new pc, and I still got nothing. I couldn't check to see if i had fried the gpu because the old one won't fit, but the cooling fan on it was running. So I switched the hdd's back and discovered I had blown the psu in the old pc. (thing was about a decade old anyways ). So I put my new rosewill psu in this thing and here I am.
